The Beach Series explores human traits and conditions through still life objects found on the beach. The project was triggered by the pandemic and my heightened awareness of our fragility as a species. The surreal, apocalyptic atmosphere of the last three years made me look at my surroundings with the eyes of “the last one”, searching for signs of human traits in the objects that will stay long after we are gone. I chose beach objects because the ocean is the place where life began, where we came from, the place I gravitate to when I need to refuel, to lose or find myself. The images were made with a large format (5x4) camera and hand printed.
